Been Upped to 20mg

I have been uppsed to 20mg citalopram and kinda worried about gettin side effects again, can this happen?

I has bad side effects on the 10mg, and wondered if it would continue.

If you're worried about the side effects, do what I did and go up to 15mg for a week. you can cut the tabs into halves and quarters.

Hi Pamii_Annii1285, I was upped from 10 mg to 20 mg of Citalopram a few weeks ago.
I did notice some side-effects from the increase, but these were only troublesome for two or three weeks, and now they have settled.

But Danj's suggestion is a good one.

I've never taken meds before and my doctor has put me on 20mg straight away, I'm currently on my second day and I am sat here whilst my legs are involuntarily shaking and have been for the last half hour or so. I'm in the mindset that anything that will get rid of how I am feeling is worth a shot and hopefully in 2 weeks time it will work.

What side effects did you get from 10mg? Depending on the severity of them, I'd say try it, if you feel the side effects are too much, then just do what dan said and cut them in half or down to 15mg. Build your way up to 20mg so your body can adjust to the meds.

I went for 10 days on 10mg and have been on 20mg for the last 11 days and the side effects didn't get any worse. The first couple of weeks seem to be the worst regardless of dosage - probably because it is new to the system. Best of luck - it will get better.

I have been prescribed 20 mg but have been told to take 10 mg for the first week (which I am almost at the end of).

I may well try to get to 15 mg next week then 20mg the week after.
