If we stick to the facts said drug is not licenced for anxiety and even failed a bid to get licenced for gad.

The guidelines advise against their use, so which experts are recommending them?

Are these the same so called experts who told us diazepam isn't adictive and is a wonder cure for nearly all MH problems.

I think the balanced view is if you need it you need it just know the risks. I won't go into them here in fear of scaring people. Remember these are powerful anti psychotic drugs not sweets.

who for one minute referred to them as sweets?
diazapam saved my sanity while going thru a break down...
obviousy specialists are prescribing them in low dos for anxiety..hardly be the lollipop man would it
my advice people is if you are prescribed these in a low dose then take them...i believe my life was saved by medication..i wont go into it too much but believe me the fools on here who scaremonger have either had bad experiences or have much deeper mh issues..
never suddenly stop meds..use them correctly with any other methods of help..i find deep massage on a weekly basis with lavendar oil helps immensley...good luck all

No one can force you to take anything Elad ..But with conditions like you have and Bi-polar .Its advised to take your medication for your own well being .Any side effects of a mood altering drug has it downsides .But they often settle down when you have been on them a while .The benefits usually outweigh the negative and can make a huge difference to your quality of life .Schizophrenia is a serious mental illness and can be life threatening and or Dangerous ..Please consider carefully the implications before you make a rash decision ..If one drug isnt suitable there are numerous others you can be prescribed...T/c Sue x

You are the fool for not at least considering the risk with said group of medication. Being completely dismissive of all the risks is just stupid.

No-one is saying don't take them - just be aware of the risks.

I was a lot happier on Abilify but they don't think it works for me anymore, is it possible to go against their decision and take Abilify regardless? It's the only anti psychotic I'm comfortable with.
I doubt if they will prescribe you Ablify if they think it wasnt working tbh ..But if you tell them you refuse the take the Quetiapine they may discuss another option you can try ..Why do they think the Ablify wasnt working ? Sue x

You can't even type using comprehensible English. Time to go back to the job centre for your weekly sign on "love."

Spouting my rubbish ehhh - everything I have said is factually correct as opposed to just quoting opinions.

    NICE guidelines -anxiety 2011.
Do not offer an antipsychotic for the treatment of GAD in primary care.

I am fully stable thanks, what medication I am on is between me and my private psychiatrist. Thanks for the suggestion but I will not be taking any anti psychotic on the advise of a total idiot.

    Re: Quetiapine / Seroquel

I'm glad this post came up. I have been on Quetiapine before and it made me eat like I was starving, I soon piled on the pounds. Apparantly there is something in it that makes you crave carbohydrates. Anyway the weight gain made my depression worse so I stopped taking them, I shouldn't have though because they worked well for me,. I got ill again and went back on them. I'm on 300mg a night. I don't have any adverse effects to a bad degree at all and taking them at night is better because you are asleep and so you don't eat.
I do have one question though...Does it cause you to have a blocked nose?

Actually you can be forced to take medication for schizophrenia if you're under a CTO (Compulsory Treatment Order) but you're absolutely right Suzy Sue in everything else you say.
