    Inositol... does it work?

I just heard about this supplement called Inositol. Has anyone here every tried it? If so, did it work for you? Any bad side effects? Thanks for the help.

    Re: Inositol... does it work?

I'm using it, no bad effects whatsoever, inositol is not known to have harmful side effects which makes it attractive to people who don't want to try antidepressants. Been using it for over a week at approximately 3.4g per day (up from 2.6g) which is below the therapeutic dose of 12g. I can't afford to take 12g per day. Studies show that lower doses than 12g/day can be effective.

The beneficial effect is that I get a much improved quality of sleep, more restful, find myself lazing in the morning when I wake up which is a nice feeling. I noticed this after 2-3 days. They say it normally takes 3 weeks to kick in but studies again show that it can work in less time.

Inositol is supposed to be superior to SSRIs at preventing or reducing panic attacks but I haven't had panic attacks for weeks anyway.
