hi, i've been taking citalopram for about two weeks, but over the past 3 days i've been hearing a sound of a doorbell in my head, was wondering if anyone else has heard or experienced this type of side effect.

"It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice". Treat others as you would like to be treated yourself and you won't go far wrong.
According to this info there is a rare side effect of "tinnitus". Tinnitus is that fake noise in the ears illness that some people suffer from as a condition. So it could be the medication.
Even if you are on a steady dosage then two weeks is still pretty early days and it may be worth persevering to see if things improve. If the noise causes you issues or is too annoying then have a word with your Dr. Clearly such a side effect could be debilitating and might interfere with work or sleep for some people.
There is a lot more chat about citalopram in its own forum on this site. One member PsychoPoet has written a lot about the medication and coping with it, and lots of other posts too.

Probably GAD & Phobias. Anxiety and renewed Depression medicated (Venlafaxine). Trying to improve.
I suffer with bouts of this normally .but found it got worse when i first started on Citalopram. It did wear off though .If it becomes troublesome play some music when you can ,or put the TV on, it certainly helps to have some background noise. All the best Sue
thanks for all the replies, makes me feel better.
