my visit to the dentist story :-)

so I took half my sedative (1.5 mg's lexotan).
then my aunt drove me to my dentist.
then I sat in the waiting room. I have realized that I get very bad anticipation anxiety! So knowing that I was able to relax some what.

then I sat in the chair, the chair moved back so I was sort of lying down.

I told the dentist which tooth was bothering me.
my dentist is female and she is very sweet to me, so I am lucky to have an understanding dentist.

so I opened my mouth wide, she put the giant needle into my bottom gum.

lucky me, I have no problems with needles at all.
it did hurt a bit, I could feel the needle going deeper and deeper. and every time it pinched my eye twitched lol.
the she had to inject the other side of my gum too!

afterwards she said I always do so well with the injections!
I know it's a bit silly but I felt really proud of my self when she said that!

I think a lot of peoples main fear of the dentist is the needles!
where as mine, is the noisy drills, the cold water on my sensitive teeth and the fear that I will feel pain while she's working on my tooth!

so then I sat in the waiting room and started to panic!
because my jaw had swelled up a little and I couldn't close my eye!

so back in the chair, I asked my dentist if it was normal, she said yes and that it would only take ten minutes for my eye to get better.

it was because of the anastetic and some nerve near my eye.
i told her that as long as i know it's normal i won't panic about it!

thats true for a lot of things! like in a bumpy train I'll ask my friend if it's normal and she'll say yes and I'll stop worrying about it!

so the dentist used the small drill with the freezing cold water that really hurts my sensitive teeth!

then the assistant had that hover thing in my mouth.
then came the big drill that makes my head vibrate.

then she put something around my tooth so she could fill it.
she turns something, so that the metal thing around my tooth gets tight and i can also feel the pinching of it.
she uses a little metal thing to scrap out any trapped food and such.

    then she fill its,
then i have to grind my teeth so the filling fits properly.
then i rinse my mouth which is hard cause my mouths all numb!

good thing i brought my sun glass's, I couldn't close my eye so it keep watering!

but after a while my eye was fine.
even now I'm find it a bit hard to swallow because half my throat is numb.

    my advice?
I guess, ask questions, because if you know it is normal then your less likely to work yourself up worrying about it.
going to the dentist will always be uncomfortable but the more you go the more you get used to it .
take a sedative! seriously it really does help!

oh and it only takes about ten minutes to fill a tooth!
my next trip will be for a root canal!
it will be done on my front tooth.
I'm a little worried because the anaesthetic will make my nose numb and it will feel like i can breath!
so I'll write about that too,

    Hi Mishel,

    WELL DONE!!

    Great advice.

Now I need to go and book an appointment for a check-up. I always dread going to the dentist but it is never as bad as I had imagined it would be.

    Best wishes

Well going to the dentist today for a filling.
I'm not going to lie I'm soooo scared.
This year I've been having problems with my throat feeling too tight so I'm hoping that doesn't add to my anxiety today.
Wish me luck cause I'm going to need it! X

    Hi Mishel

Hope your visit goes OK for you.

I dont like the dentist but, go to avoid any further "longer" visits -
    are I say it.

I am honest with the dentist and tell him that I am today "feeling
very nervous" - then he talks to me even more - LOL.

    Good luck
