been switched from cipralex to citalopram!

hi, does anyone understand the reasoning of being prescribed citalopram after a high dose of cipralex stopped working, was on 30mg cipralex and now on 20mg of citalopram, been on it two weeks and not feeling great, been told they are the same drug but one being a lot more expensive with less side effects, very confused at moment, any help or advice is welcome, damo

oh im the opposite to you i was on citalipram 10mg for 2yrs but it stopped working and i couldnt up the dose,im on 5mg cipralex now. i find the cipralex agrees with me more but im still a bit jittery

i was originally on citalopram for 3 years and it stopped working and was then put on cipralex for 3 years and now back on citalopram so totally confused!

hhmm i would be confused as 30mg of cipralex is 60mg of citalopram so unless you were coming down on the dose you are not on enoughcipralex is more expensive so maybe thats why unless there has been some mistake. i would spk to your doc asap

How long have you been on the cipralex? even tho its the same there are slight differences.You might still be jittery because you havnt been on it long enough for it to kick in .Or you need a slightly higher dose to be more effective.. Sue x
