Tapering down Ativan (lorazepam) before ECG Test?

I am currently taking .5mg of Lorazepam (Ativan) twice a day for about two weeks now. Before that I was on 1mg twice a day. I have a treadmill ECG test on the 22nd but I have read that withdrawal can give false readings on these tests.

I would like to contine to taper off of Lorazepam but I don not want to screw up an expensive test or worse yet, give false positives for heart troubles. Should I continue on this dose till after the test, or even bump it a little just before the test or continue reducing my dosage?

I have noticed the last couple of times I missed my afternoon dose, I would get heavy palps, dizzy, a bit panicy and a gernal feeling of unwellness. I really don't want that during the test.

    Thanks,
    WW

If you only concerned about the test readings its one thing
If you are concerned about reducing it averall - thats another thing.
I believe for test you should do whatever you need to get the correct results,

As for reducing Ativan - I would highly recommend, as it is highly addictive and is good only as a temporary solution for as short as possible period of time. Mainly with acute anxiety and depression as far as i know.

I took it for a while (few weeks i think) and then stopped luckily with now withdrawal effects.

I dont think it did any good to me.

    Regards,

Yes, I did run out after only a month and had a horrible night of playing computer games to keep my self occupied till I could get back to the doctor and pharmacist. I have since started working my self off. I think I will continue to taper till the test then take a one time up dose. I think this should be ok, but I will call and confirm.

    Thanks
