Help - decreased dose feel tired and lethargic

Hey,

I switched from 40mg to 20mg of Citalopram about 6 weeks ago, as I was constantly hyperactive and manic. Luckily my withdrawal symptoms (racing heart, loss of appetite, irritability) have worn off, but I've been left feeling tired and lethargic, no matter how much sleep i get, no matter how much I exercise or eat energy-boosting foods like bananas, protiens and complex carbs.
Has anybody experienced this and learned how to combat this?

Might be that your reduced dose is too low and some depression or anxiety have come back - or maybe your body is recovering after the constant hyperactivity. You probably burned a lot of energy.

Tiredness could be anything though, maybe you should look at improving your "sleep hygeine" (get into a comfortable routine which trains your body to rest). I think it is fair to say that whatever you are suffering from is the proximate (actual overall) cause of the tiredness.

Thank you for your post! I think a big part of it is my body calming down after being so hyperactive - I could not sit still for three months! Some depression has returned, ie disinterest in certain aspects of life, but I know that I can train myself to regain that interest. Also, it's better than making manic, ridiculous promises like I was making when I was taking 40mg Citalopram, eg that I was going to swim the Channel!
