Presentation success at work after anxiety

Really had a good day today, I held a meeting and gave a presentation and not one sign of anxiety (woohoo!). This has been a proper marker in my fight against stress and anxiety, I felt anx beforehand but I made sure I prepared well so that there were no slip ups, this is the best I have felt for a long time!

I still get the odd bouts of anxiety throughout the day, but I try to not let it knock my confidence, it just gives me another opportunity to think about the triggers and understand my thought process that led me to be anxious!

Things are looking up, at last!

Keep positive everyone, I have faced my fears and I am getting there, hope this gives some hope of what can happen at the otherside of recovery!

Re: Presentation success at work after anxiety

    Hi All,

    Long time since last post.

Back in the management game and presentations are more called for than ever before. I am ok but get a few nerves from time to time but when I speak to everybody that does this for a living they say they suffer all the same. This is great reassurance especially when you cannot tell they are nervous.

I had a downer with a presentation I had to give to group of 30 people, I was unprepared, the media to display my information was limited to 6 sheets of results between 30 people. I knew this looked bad from the start so straight away I looked like a dick so that knocked my confidence 10fold so started of a bit shaky for the first minute before recovering into a better display where I discarded the paper and talked without it. It took me a while to get over this but bouncing back has been a confidence boost cos I am aware that I can learn from my weaknesses and build from it.

I am still on Citalopram but only on 10mg as a maintenance dose, but hopefully I won't be on them forever, I started back in 2009 with the meds and never changed to anything else. I am still growing as a person, I know I will never be the final product, I am evolving everyday into a strong man, I still have principles that I need to establish and stick by as a moral guide to my development, this is my next step to creating stability mentally and physically.

    Hope to all

    LK
