My best mate has a down syndrome son who is 24.
His younger brother age 22 took him to our city centre today.
Took him into whetherspoons bought him a drink and ordered them both a meal.
There was a young couple sitting at the table next to them.
When their meal arrived the woman told my friends youngest son to go to a different table and take his friend with him because she couldnt eat her meal while facing someone who was down syndrome!!!!!!!
He smashed his hand into both their meals and said "you cant eat your meal now!"
The bouncers came and asked what was going on and the couple were escorted off the premises and barred.
But the guy was shouting and threatned to kill my friends son saying he was a dead man walking.
Words fail me.
I just cant believe that people can be so cruel.
I think they got off light cus their meal would have been on their heads if it had been me there.
Luckily there were people that heard the conversation and backed my friends son.
Im so sickened about some peoples reaction.

That is disgusting behavior and the police should have been called.
I don't blame you for being angry because i would be livid if this had happened to someone i knew too.
There is absolutely no respect left in this world. People don't have manners anymore and it's sickening.

My first job was working with people with learning difficulties and I shall never forget my first experince of total bigotry - I was with one of our clients (Carol) and this oldish woman came up to us and said to me -' she should be locked up in a home '

It makes me sick! One of the first groups of people Hitler murdered were people with disabilities...German children with Downs and other conditions...

What makes that couple so different? What makes them any better than a person with Downs?

I hate the arrogance of some people - goodness knows what they would do if they had a child with a disability...

OMG Lynn thats obscene i think thats so horrible, people can be so cruel.
But good for his brother well done its nothing less than they deserved a good job i wasnt on the table next to him either or he'd be wearing his dinner.
I hope theyre both ok.

Some people are just nasty trolls!
That is the truth of it - well the cleaned up version of what I'm thinking anyway

My son has had epilepsy since he was 2. We were in the hospital and he was having 4200 tonic clonic (drop seizures) a day. I found a little radio flyer wagon and would put him in it and pull him to the activity room. The doctors at that point were telling me that he may end up permanently brain damaged from the amount and strength of the seizures so in my mind the more stimulation I could give him while he was in between seizures the better. A nurse came up to me and said you need to take him back to his room before he starts scaring the other children!
Now there were kids in there with missing limbs and terrible burns but my little 2 year old having a drop seizure which basically just makes him look like he is staring off into space is going to scare the other children??!
And she was a nurse for cryin out in the nite!!

I just don't understand how some can be so heartless!

Needless to say I told her where to go and offered to draw her a map on how to get there!

That is so out of order.My other half's sister has down syndrome,she is so loving and loves to cuddle you.She is very independant to.

We have a bit of a problem going on at the moment,her mother has been invited to one of her grandson's wedding in a hotel,but my partner myself and his down syndrome sister have been invited only to the evening do.It turn's out the wedding has a sit down meal and we are pretty sure the bride does not want his sister at the sit down meal!!!!!! so we are not attending at all!!!!!!

It never fails to amaze me how stupid and ignorant some folk are, good for his brother to challange these two idiots, like others have said, if it had been me they would have been wearing their dinner....
