    Tension headaches!

    Hi,
i have had a tension headache since this afternoon which is making me anxious now.
Can anyone describe to me how theirs feel and especially if you occassionally get like a sudden pain on the side of your head from them, it feels like a muscle spasm and is only painful for about a second or so. I rarely get this but it still worries me.
I hate headaches, like most people, and always think its something worse. My mum died from a brain tumour, so i get totally paranoid about them!
    thanx, kt x

I sometimes get really bad stabbing pains in the side of my head and they are so bad that I actually grimace and say "ouch" (or a similar word lol) out loud!

I once had a headache for about a week so got some strong pain killers from the chemist that did help.

Not sure that helps but they do go away in time.

I can understand your concerns though because of your mum but I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Try a getting an Indian head massage or really relaxing and rubbing your temples in wide circles.

The classic anxiety headache is called a headband ache but it is fairly individual.

Dan & Meg, thankyou too!! I had a Hopi Ear candle treatment at weekend and although this was really relaxing, i think my neck and shoulder muscles are fighting it, they are not used to being relaxed and feel like they want to shrink back up to my ears again!!
