Giving medical advice on NMP - please be aware

Please can I remind members that we are not medically qualified on here and I have some seen some posts tonight where good-meaning members have given medical advice and subsequently given the poster even more reason for concern.

This is a community support forum and not a medical forum and all we can do is advise members based on previous/current experience.

I cannot empathise enough that members need to see a qualified doctor if they have any serious worries and not purely rely on members comments on here.

Members can only advise but are not able to diagnose illnesses based on your posts.

    Thanks

Re: Giving medical advice on NMP - please be aware

This is such a wise post because we can cause more concern than good when we give medical advice. I am sure those who do/have will have done it in a well-meaning way but as a community we need to always be aware of others feelings. We can give advice in other areas but in medical areas unless we are professionals it is always best to resist giving advice

    Hi Nicola,

I am worried that this was something I said - I don't think I'll bother replying to anyone anymore incase I am upsetting someone. It's the last thing I would want to do as I know how suggestable you are when anxious.

    Sorry.

    Regards
    Myra

    Myra,

even if you were in some way responsible don't let it stop ye replying to someone in the future, especially if the subject they are talking of is something you yourself have had personal experience with.

It's all any of us can do.

    Take care & be safe.

Re: Giving medical advice on NMP - please be aware

I think this might have been me because of a thread i left a couple of nights ago.

I have now deleted it just incase it lead the person to faulse indications and scared them.

I would just like everyone to know that although im not medically qualified, i have all the best intentions for everyone on here and really want everyone to get better and beat this all together as one. Sorry for any inconvinience caused.

    Feel bad now.

Myra/Cricketjar - it was nothing either of you said ok.

It was a general comment that I had been meaning to make for a while.
