Thread: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative

Very interesting indeed Pyschopoet. I wish I'd read about this before I went on Sertraline, as I might have given it a go, as most of my obsessive anxiety surrounds sleep... Still no use crying over spilt milk now and I seem to be doing ok.

I am still having trouble sleeping however... I'd like to sleep clean, but on good nights I have to use Night Nurse. And on bad nights (i.e. when that fails) it's back to the trusty Zopiclone. And although I'm working very hard not to be anxious about using that (a recent lapse back onto it induced a panic attack) I'd would rather not keep using something that is addictive and a pain in the arse to get from the GP's.

Do you have anything to comment on Inositol's possible combination with Sertraline? I am still building up my tolerance at the moment (day 26 of 50mg)...

Sleeping isn't any better yet, took two doses yesterday. Going to the toilet was interesting this morning, I think I poo'd half my body weight in liquid. Will be interested to see how I fare today.

Haven't deposited any more pavement pancakes although I'm creating wonderful sounds and smells from my pigeonhole and experiencing some other digestive excitements. I don't think I'm taking a full teaspoon a day yet. Yesterday I had a better day than I've had for a while, mood is improved and anxiety is more in the background, could well be the inositol!

Day 8 and feeling good! I think this stuff really works!! I'd take this over antidepressants any day. No stomach upset except a bit of regurgitation after a large dose or if not straight after a meal. Haven't woken up in the night at all, but still waking up a bit too early.
Feeling so much brighter without the depression, I can acually think about doing things with my life again.

Inositol is classed as a vitamin. It is safe to take with any SSRI. I don't think there are any contraindications other than anything already stated in the article.

Panchogoz, I'm so glad I read that after a massive bowl of spaghetti bolonese, it seemed so appropriate

The major study I read up on about inositol stated they thought inositol could be used instead of medication if you took higher doses eg 12g. Also inositol starts working much quicker than an SSRI.

Ah now I took it with a bottle of beer last night as an experiment - no ill effects apart from the usual morning wind, and I had a fantastic night's sleep.

How much are you taking Pancho?

I bought stupid capsules which are only 600mg and I try to take 3 a day but I don't see any effects.

I don't know really...probably about 4 grams. I'm trying to make it around a teaspoon.

For what it's worth, I found 3-4g per day to be effective. Any more than that and the old "rumbly tumbly" did a fandango.

I suppose you'd need 5 to 6 of those capsules a day to be effective?
