Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative

I've been trying to get hold of the Inositol powder from Holland & Barrett with no success. It's not available in their shops or in powder form from their online shop, and when I rang the lady said it looks like it may have been discontinued in powder form!

Any suggestions for an alternative brand?

    Hi all
I've been taking inositol for about 2 weeks i think and only today i feel like i'm turning a corner...well i hope it is the inositol and not just a good day
But i'm taking the holland and barrett tablets and looking into getting the powder before i run out! I took a quick look on ebay and saw the powder form for £4.35 and 95p p&p...Thats for 100g's pharmaceutical grade! Not sure if thats good but i'll keep searching elsewhere because i'm not sure ebay is the best place to get a product thats going into my body!
Thanks psychopoet for bringing inositol to my attention.

Nice on Tel, I think inositol is a really good thing and to be honest, if I was a cat I'd rub my arched back against my tub of inositol and purr.

Glad it's helped some people here. It's done very little for me - in fact bugger all - apart from costing me a fortune. (I tried the powder after the tablets mixed with choline did nothing.)

It's time Melancholia dug up some research on inositol and its apparent low levels in depressed patients. I did read some papers saying how it was as efficacious as fluvoxamine for Panic Disorder - but that's an out-of-date AD in my view - and why they used it makes me a bit dubious.

But it'd be good to hear more experiences from members that have tried it. (Side effects-wise I didn't notice anything so that's a plus...)

I think inositol is more effective against anxiety than depression.

I'm the same as you Melancholia77, I suffer from anxiety an Inositol didn't do anything for me other than make me very sleepy and feel a bit queasy. I took 3 650mg capsules a day for a month and they weren't doing anything at all so I gave up on them as they aren't cheap. Really pleased to see they help some people, just wish I was one of the lucky ones

I've been and bought the powder from Holland and Barretts today (£9.99) I'm gonna give it a go and start at around 3-4g per day and see how it goes. If it helps, great - if not then £10 isn't a massive outlay in all honesty. I'll ask my GP about it when I'm due there, next Tues. See how much she knows about it.

Been on the Inositol for nearly a month now and perhaps it is helping. Taking 1/4 of a teaspoon 3 times a day, so if it is helping then great. Giving me a bit more of a wind problem than usual, but I can live with that. Not sure if the wife can, however!

Re: The Inositol Guide: PsychoPoet Research Initiative

Hi everyone, I have made some updates to the Inositol Guide:

    * Added "can I take inositol with Kalms" section.

    * Made several clarifications to the text.

    * Improved the layout of the Guide to make it easier to read.

    * Added a separate Side Effects section.

    * Added improved sleep to the benefits section; this was probably the biggest boost to my recovery, and I had completely failed to mention it. Whoops!
