    Gum Biting/Chewing

Does anyone do this without even realising they are doing it ?

I have been doing it a lot and then wonder why my mouth is all dry and full of lumps/ulcers and white spots.

Does biting your gums lead to any problems ?

I can't seem to help it. Somtimes it's the lower gum, then the sides, then the upper gum. It's an absolute nightmare.

i do it all the time without even noticing!!!!!! The insides of my cheeks are destroyed. I have no idea if it causes anything. I think i'd rather not know. I did split my tooth in half and the dentist thinks its from clenching my jaw etc, the tooth is fixed now via root canal (ooch!). She said to try and make myself aware of when I am clenching/grinding etc and make a consious effort to stop. I'm trying, but its easier said then done! Its a symptom of anxiety and just another one we have to deal with.

I also do it all the time without knowing it and my daughter does too (and she doesn't suffer from any illness or taking any tablets). In fact my daughter does it when she is concentrating. Im not even aware that I am doing it. The skin grows back very quickly and it doesn't seem to cause us any problems.
