chattering teeth and clenching jaw

Have been on citalopram for nearly 2 weeks, and the first 10 days were a nightmare. my anxiety does seem to be lessening slightly, but I do still have days when I have the shakes, really bad.
Last night, I noticed that I was clenching my jaw, and grinding my teeth, something I have NEVER done before. Could this just be another unusual side effect coming to the surface? Has anyone else had this?

Just as I think I've run the gamut of all the wonderful symptoms of anxiety that my mind and body can exhibit, then I start experiencing something new. Strangely enough, when I start feeling better (external stresses are reduced or medication starts kicking in), I seem to exhibit some of my weirdest. I'm just wondering if that's what's happening to you.

Been on citalopram for 16 days now.

I've not really noticed that side effect, but have heard about it. Sometimes when I get up out of bed I start shivering - although that's probably because the house is cold!

Hi, I had the clenching teeth. The chattering jaw is probably from heightened anxiety which is an early side effect and the teeth clenching thing is caused by citalopram. Both side effects should disappear soon.

I still find myself clenching my jaw after 15months .Im more aware of it now tho and do stop myself ..Sue

ive been on cit 20 mg for over 3 months now and still clench my teeth/jaw but not half as much as when i first started on these meds, definitely a side effect as i never did this before, take care x

I've been on it for two weeks and have been clenching my teeth, its a side effect I can live with but now my teeth are starting to hurt with I eat!
