fast resting heart beat for haelthy 24 year old

This is my first post.

I am an otherwise healthy 24 year old female (5'6, 130 pounds). I do yoga 2-3 times per week and also run 1-2 per week. I do not smoke or drink any caffeine.

For the pas year, I have had episodes of high resting heart beat (around 96 bpm). It usually happens when I am sitting on the couch or lying in bed-not being active.

I have no problems exercising. I rarely lose my breath, I can run on the treadmill for 30 minutes without being winded.

However, why is my resting heart beat so high? I had an EKG last year and it came out relatively normal (a little leaking from one valve), but does anyone have any suggestions?

It really freaks me out!!!

I guess you are here because you think that your high heart rate could be anxiety? Sounds like it to me as you are young, fit and healthy. My heart does beat quickly sometimes on resting and I'm a lot older than you and only just given up smoking

I don't know why it does it alang, but apparently according to some people I have spoken too, it's quite normal.

Hi alang,

I get periods like that as well, sometimes my resting heart rate is over 100bpm. I've always put it down to being anxious. I've had this on and off for over ten years now.

How do you know your heart beat is so fast? Are you constantly checking it, or do you feel other symptoms as well. For me I always have to check that my heart is beating when I'm a bit anxious. This makes me more anxious as it always seems to be beating a bit quick or irregular.
