I really would appreciate some feedback on what the ENT specialist told me today. I'll be worried silly for the coming weeks.
He said that my 'lump in the throat sensation' is caused by a swelling of tonsillar tissue (right side, just over my tongue, looks like a tiny bunch of grapes) where one of my tonsils used to be. I can see it and have been concerned about it.
He asked me if I have any allergies and I told him that I suffer from hayfever and that my swallowing 'problem' dates back to August. At the time I was doing some work in the attic/loft and stupidly didn't wear a dust mask - this is only a possible reason.
He said it was most likely just an allergic reaction to something.... but bearing in mind that I had lost weight he is sending me for a barium swallow test in two weeks time 'to put my mind at rest'. I won't know the result until January so there is no santa for me this year :-(
Is he just letting me down gently or has anybody heard of this kind of thing?
Any feedback, good or bad greatly appreciated.
