Inositol problems?

Hi,

For people who take Inositol I was wondering have you experienced any side effects or problems?

I have been taking it since September 2008, And the last 2/3 months I have been having stomach pains. Their not really bad pains although they are quite annoying and make me panic. The dilema I am in is I cant stop taking the Inositol becuase its the only thing which I find helps my anxiety.

Could Inositol cause these stomach aches, I have been taking for nearly 5 months now. Wouldn't I have expereienced these pains at the start?

I don't know anything about Inositol but I think it's highly unlikely that you'd have side effects after 5 months. The stomach pains could be stomach acid, irritable bowel, etc. These are very common conditions. Why don't you speak to your gp. I'm sure it's nothing serious and probably something that can be settled down with maybe an antacid. Let us know how you get on.

I doubt very much that it would cause such a side effect after so long. Did you mean you've been taking inositol since Sept 09 not 08?

It could be acid/indigestion etc. Your GP should be able to help.

Hi, inositol also gives me an upset stomach when I take too much (more than about 4g per day for a week or more) but these side effects occur very quickly and they disappear when I stop taking inositol or reduce the dose. Have you recently increased your dose? How much do you take?

Have a word with your doctor if you're worried. It could just be irritable bowel syndrome which is provoked by stress.

you could go a day or too without and see if it helps?
maybe take it with food?
i learned the hard way not to take multivitamins on a empty stomach!
