Off Citalopram for the 2nd time, however...

    Hi guys,

I have now been off citalopram (for the 2nd time) now for 2 weeks without any problems at all. However today i was typing away at work and all of a sudden out of completely nowhere i started to feel quite anxious/shakey and just generally not very good. I seem to have over come any fears of panic attacks etc so i am just generally wondering if this is something to do with the chemicals in the brain. I know citalopram helps balance everything out. Im forcing myself not to go back on them.

    Hi Baldy,

Anxiety/panic attacks have nothing to do with "chemicals in the brain", it is all down to your adrenal glands. This is clearly explained under the "panic attacks" section on this forum so do have a read.

Now you are off meds (and very well done for that) your anxiety may well be resurfacing a little because underneath it was always there (meds only ease the symptoms). Be patient, give it time to pass.

    Best wishes

    B
