    Social Life

I have been suffering from panic-attacks for over a year. I have tried herbal medication and acupunture and all is fine now however I still do not feel like to be very socialable with people. I had some problems with few friend-relationships and this could be putting me off. I also get easily distracted at work, cannot focus on one thing and while working oftern think of somethink else. Does anyone know if you this feeling of being unsociable and not able sometimes to concentrate comes from past panic attack disorder or should I be concerned with this as symptomns of other disorder?

Sound syou you may be over the actual panics ( well done ) but are left with residual anxiety which is presenting in a social form.

Time to challenge yourself gently to address these concerns but keep up with anxiety relieving techniques

    Hi Pfidelus

I’m not sure if this is what you mean, but I know when I go through periods of anxiety I find myself avoiding people altogether because I think it’s safer – usually because I’ve gone through a spate of trying to be sociable but then finding myself in the middle of a conversation with someone and thinking ‘how could I get out if this if I needed to without being rude/seeming weird’; the usual answer being ‘you can’t’ hence triggering a feeling of panic!

Although it does seem easier to avoid people, I’m sure it doesn’t do any good in the long term and only adds to the feelings of loneliness… I’m a bit anxious cos I’ve got to go back to work tomorrow and had a panic attack just before the Christmas break because of the exact situation I described above… but I went out today and bought some rescue remedy following the advice on this site – might help, might not, but certainly worth a shot if it stops you becoming a recluse?!

Soz if interpreted what you meant incorrectly, but I’m sure as Meg said it must be some sort of ‘leftover’ and I’m sure will pass – esp if you try not to let it get the better of you (easier said than done I know) – well done on overcoming the panic attacks though!
