    Citalopram decreased dosage?

Hi all. I was prescribed Citalopram 4 days ago (20mg) because I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attack. Things have gone from bad to worse since starting on it, but I know this is quite normal when starting on Citalopram.

I went to my GP today to tell him about it and he advised to take only half tablet (10mg) for a few days until the anxiety settles a bit and then go back up to 20mg.

Does this make sense or will it mean that the med won't be as effective? Should I soldier on and keep taking the 20mg per day?

    Many thanks.

I started on Citalapram last week , and after the 1st few days i noticed my anxiety had heightened , but it seems to have passed now, im on 20mg . If you feel really bad then follow doctors advise , I don't think it means the med will be less effective , perhaps a few days on 10 will settle it down and then you can go up to 20 That's what i would do .
    Good luck
