New medication - I need moral support

Hi all.
Because of my fear of being sick Ive more or less stopped eating. My doctor has prescribed me some pills to calm down my stomach with the hopes itll get me eating again.
I stupidly read the imformation leaflet and a common side effect is nausea and vomiting.
I know I need to take these pills otherwise Im never going to get better, but its going to be very hard to do.
I would dearly love some moral support to get me ready to take them.

Not sure how people can help you? If you tell us what it is then others will be able to say if they have been prescribed it or not.

It would be great if you could let us know what the med is. I've been on all sorts of stomach type medications and I have a fear of vomiting (I'm not quite emetophobic these days though). It might be one I've tried :-)

Reminds me of a quote I read recently ."Dont ask the question if you dont want to hear the truth "lol....That said it is rather pointless posting half the facts .I understand how difficult it is when you fear taking drugs with regard to side effects .Perhaps would be better to just take them .Not everyone gets side effects .You wont know until you try them .Obviously your Dr thinks they are what you need so have faith in your Dr . I know what you mean!!!
I only have to see "nausea or vomiting" and the pills go straight in the bin!
To be honest though, most medications have that side effect on them - mainly just so the doctors back is covered should anything go wrong!
The side effects of most meds are really uncommon so i'm sure you'll be ok!
But if you're still worried, could you ask your doctor to prescribe you something that won't have nausea as a side effect? :S

I feel for you! I could have written that myself!
To the frustration of many I put off taking any kind of medication until it was decided to put me on Mirtazapine which apparently has an anti-emetic effect, as well as being an anti-depressant of some kind. Maybe it's worth asking your GP, or whomever prescribed the medicine to consider something else that would suit you more?
As for reading the leaflets, I do that for everything, to the point where I refused to use some steroid cream for my hands incase it made me vomit (how on earth that would happen, i have no idea!)
