scared - gastritis or stomach cancer

hi there!

i've been googling cos i'm not sure if i have gastritis or stomach cancer!

my pains are in the upper abdomen, i feel sick and absolutely bloated when i've had my dinner at night! my hubby has pressed my tummy when i am laying down, and i'm gagging!

i also get little twinges in my upper abdomen too they are next to my ribcage (not below) on both the right and left side and can happen at the same time or separately!

i have occasional burping too but it's this horrible full feeling and feeling sick that worries me.

i had gastritis before and it was like this but these little twinges are worrying me - is it just trapped wind?

i've been taking cemetidine but it's not doing much good and last time it shifted it!

i've been crying so much and feel sick even more with worrying.

please can somebody reassure me xxx

hello hunny,,snap,,ive googled just about everything you can google,,my tummy starts the minute i eat,,it becomes really bloated and i just feel i cant move,,i also get the pain in the left and right hand sides ,upper,, and the sharp twinges,, ive been taking colpermin which usually helps,but nothing easing it,,i also get the odd feeling of feeling sick,,so i know exactly what your going through

Well, based upon the history and symptoms you've described, it would inconsistent with gastrointestinal cancer. My question at this point is whether you've had your most recent symptoms evaluated? There are many conditions which can produce bloating and upper epigastric pain. Pressure at the diaphragm can produce muscle spasms, called splenic flexure, which likely explains the "twinges" which concern you.

You need to relax and set aside any fears you have that this might be related to cancer. It's not the case. You also need to obtain a referral to a gastroenterologist so that they can evaluate and treat you. There's no need to suffer to the extent you're describing and I would presume that any reluctance to have the symptoms promptly evaluated is due to fear of what might be found.

You'll be okay. Take a breath and go see the specialist. They'll get you squared away and you'll be feeling better in no time.

what i do is to give myself 2 weeks with symptoms becuase not everything is anxiety but anxiety can and does cause most of our symptoms! so - to cover all angles - (unless i cannot move with pain/have a temperature etc) i allow myself 2 weeks and try and accept all symptoms and if after 2 weeks there has been no improvement whatsoever i take myself to the gp. those 2 weeks allow me breathing space and cut down the anxiety i pile on top of the symptoms that are probably being caused by anxiety in the first place - i think you should try the same x

I know this is an old thread but...

I have gastritis, have for over a year and it wont fix itself! I take Ranitidine, Mebeverine and WindEze.

I find that something lying on my left side helps, as does Domperidone (as you are in the UK you can get this on prescription, it moves the food through the stomach quicker and acts as an anti nausea).

Also if you have a hair dryer, use it! Aim it at the stomach area and rub gently with your other hand.
