I've had this ringing in my ears/head for the past 5 months. I've been to the Doctor's a couple of times and had my ears checked (once when it originally started and the second time last week), both times they've checked and said it was a build-up of earwax, and that I should clean them out with warm olive oil 3 times a day for 2 weeks, and it if hadn't cleared up by then, go in and get them syringed. The first time I treated them with olive oil, but never went in to get them syringed as I then found out that tinnitus can be a symptom of anxiety so I just figured that this was probably the cause as I had just started having panic attacks a few weeks before. Since going to see the doctor last week and being told the same thing, I've been cleaning them out with Otex, and I've managed to remove a lot of earwax, I'll probably make an appointment to get them syringed just to make sure. I was just wondering to those who have suffered with anxiety related tinnitus, how long did the problem last? And did it come and go a lot or did it stay for very long periods? I am of course worried that I might have a brain tumour (I've heard some types of brain tumours can cause tinnitus). I do have times where it seems like the tinnitus has gone, but when I concentrate it seems to come back. I've managed to keep my anxiety under control a lot these past couple of months but this is starting to wear thin. Most of my other symptoms I can handle, but this just keeps going.
