Citalopram withdrawal

Hi - I have been taking citalopram for the past 3 years, the does being 30mg.

Over the summer I reduced the dose to 20mg, over a period of a month or two and I didn't feel any different so I then reduced the dose to 10mg which was also fine sypmtom-wise.

In the last month I have reduced the dose to nothing and I felt fine for the first 2 or 3 weeks. However, the past few days my head feels like it's being squeezed a bit and head feels a bit painful. Bearing in mind I never ever get headaches ... I also feel very tired.

Has anybody who's experienced similar sypmtoms please offer some advice?

I was on citalopram but only for just over a year.

But after 2 or 3 weeks any withdrawals have usually dissappeared?

Maybe these feelings u are getting is a sign u were not ready to give up the medication. Remember anxiety/depression is not cured by medication, the meds are there to aid u through seeking help else where (therapy etc.) dunno if u have tried this.

Maybe go back to your docter and explain ur symptoms to them and they might be able to help.

Wheek! As far as I was concerned, citalopram & other SSRI's were awful in treating my personal sh*tness - SSRI's gave me really vivid and sometimes really NASTY dreams - also I couldn't string a single thought together when I was on them. When I was 'properly' depressed, I was stabilised on Dosulepin - a trusty, tricyclic antidepressant.
