I'm increasing to 20mg of Cit today -- Bit nervous:-(

Hiya,

I was advised by the Dr to take 10mg of Cit for the first 6 days, and then up the dose to 20mg.....I had 2 pretty bad side effect days, shaking, metallic taste, dizziness, lethargy....but yesterday and today have been ok really! Will I feel stronger effects now?? I will be taking the 1st 20mg when i get home from work.

I started taking cit in June and like yourself began on the 10mg and did experience side effects as you've mentioned, headaches were also troublesome.
To be honest I did actually chip away a bit from a 20mg tablet for a few days until I felt happy to take the full 20, but that was my decision and the side effects didn't get stronger by doing that, they were worse taking the 10mg in the 1st week.
Now it's been 3 months I'm very glad I persevered and definately feel they have helped me, no regrets whatsoever.

Thanks for that, feeling a bit better now:-) I think i will just bite the bullet and take the full 20mg as I have been feeling better.......

I am supposed to be increasing from 10mg to 20mg today. Have been on 10mg for a week. But I'm really nervous too...took me 10 months to take the 10mg!!! Please let me know how you get on and maybe I'll find the courage tomorrow :/

Hi Stephie

I'm not sure what have been side effects and what has been anxiety! Also got a blocked ear so been feeling pretty dizzy from that too! Think my anxiety has just been heightened this past week so an increase in meds would probably help. I've already taken the 10mg today so it will have to be tomorrow now. Sure it won't be that bad. Fingers crossed. I'll let you know how I feel tomorrow! I am sure it will be fine....worrying about it will prob make me worse I guess. But Unfortuantely, thats the vicious circle pattern i live with most of the time .

I'm not increasing my dose this time round but when I first took citalopram I increased from 10mg to 20mg after two weeks and I had no side effects when I upped the dosage

Fingers crossed all will be fine, I'm sure it will be though

Thanks Jflower, it's only been 6 days for me, but I'll stick to Dr's orders and give it a go!
