    Control Weight Gain while Quitting Cigarettes

    People generally notice slight weight gain while quitting smoking. In fact weight gain during quitting smoking is one of the reasons why some people do not try to quit smoking at all. But this is an unrealistic concern as the advantages of quitting smoking are much higher than gaining a little weight. No matter what method one would use-(link removed) or any natural method, a slight weight gain might be inevitable. But the weight gain can be controlled by regulating the quantity and quality of food intake.

    One must exercise regularly to control weight. A regular exercise program helps to check the weight gain and also acts as an extra activity to take one’s mind off smoking. Use a sugar free approach and change the eating patterns. It is very important that one keeps away from junk food and high fat content food. The food that should be consumed more are fruit juices, sunflower seeds, spring or mineral water, carrots, popcorn, yogurt, apples, bananas, dry roasted peanuts.

    One can also make use of some tips like taking small quantities of food initially during meals. Eat slowly and enjoy the food. One should take small bites and become aware of the taste and texture of the food. The meals should be accompanied with a large glass of water and one should take frequent sips between bites. Serve yourself with sliced fruits for dessert. A non smoking activity should mark the end of the meal like going for a walk, washing the dishes or anything similar. An unlimited amount of raw vegetables should be allowed instead of sweets or fatty food. One must carry a good supply of sugarless mint, candy and gum. Smoking should be restricted. Alcohol is high in calories and it may also lead to an urge to smoke.
