    is it normal ?

    Is it normal to have a lot of wind after eating with IBS ? I don't just get it when i've eaten foods high in fibre it just seems to be anything. I 've just had a chinese and now i've got terrible wind and gurgling in my stomach. I am very anxious about eating in case it sets my stomach off. Could anxiety be playing a part ?

    My tummy makes so much noise!
    Yes the wind is part of it, sometimes you can have some pain with the wind, and the sense that if you only could get rid of the wind you'd feel oh so much better!

    Thanx Mishel its now calmed down a bit !!!!!!!! How do you cope with the noisy tummy ? It drives me crazy and makes me sooo anxious xxx

    hi i know exactly where your coming from chick, my stomach problems are the source of my panick/anxiety attacks !!
    anxiety,stress and panick will definately cause all those problems your experiencing, so stressing about this more will only make the situation worse. try to break the cycle in your mind that eating brings on a stomach ache, which will then get you anxious !! i went through exactly this, it got to a point where i would only eat certain foods if any at all, and my weight plumeted !! also because of the lack of food i was consuming my anxiety/panick worsened.
    i conquered it by eating small amounts often, then gradually building from there, some days i would feel physically sick with the thought of food, but new eating nothing would make me feel even worse.ive defintely learnt that feeding the nervous system, is better than trying to avoid the anxiety by not eating so please try to break this cycle chick x

    I would recommend starting a food diary and list what you've eaten and the resulting symptoms - wind, bloating etc.

    After a few weeks of keeping one, I am beginning to realise what is causing certain symptoms.

    I guess you know that fibre is bad for IBS but there are lots of other foods that trigger it. Especially if they are processed or have loads of additives/ingredients in them.

    I've started checking ingredients a lot more now!!
