What have you achieved in 2010?

Saw this on facebook and thought it would make a nice positive thread on here, so come on, what have you personally achieved this last year? Can be anything at all...

    I'll start:
    • Managed to cope in a new flat at Uni, with new flatmates, and have spent more time in the kitchen as opposed to hiding in my room
    • Managed to ask for, and start, CBT - difficult but it's a new beginning
    • Learnt how to cope in difficult situations, without always putting the blame on to myself
    • Managed to complete a six week block of placement at a Primary School
    • Managed to be assertive with the uni, do something risky, and changed my course to something completely new and different...
    • Managed to join a new Brownie Group as a leader, in a new city - with noone I'd ever met before in my life
Feeling a bit pleased now as when trying to do this on facebook I could barely think of anything but I suppose I've not done all that bad..

So come on, I'm curious to hear yours, we could all do with some positive thinking

    Turned 40.
Went to Glastonbury festival for the first time and loved every minute.
Realised I had an anxiety problem and that I would survive to 2011 after all, and I have - almost!

Think more people should post on this thread, I think we have lots to celebrate!

I got a new job and returned to work after taking time off for both my mental and physical health
I managed to eat out for the first time in months in December!
I went abroad for Christmas and had to eat foreign labelled foods, etc!
I'm tackling my anxiety step by step and having a positive attitude...
I found a wonderful boyfriend.. or maybe he found me, but either way, i've managed to hang on to him!
I can say that I haven't beaten my anxiety, but I have beaten my depression this year.

    Well done everyone x x x

Well done everyone. You should be very proud.

I learnt to cope with anxiety and fight it.
I got a new job in my company, wrote my CV off sick with anxiety, so I wasn't as weak as I thought!
I finally went to counselling for 12 weeks and let out years of pain and anguish that has built up inside me - one of the bravest things I've ever done
I made new friends on this site and try to advise when I can
I had an operation and am getting slowly better, here's to a healthy 2011
I joined "freecycle" and gave away a lot of unused household stuff to people who need it

Well done to you all. You should be mightily proud of even getting through one day in your life, never mind those long lists of achievements!!

    Let's see now:
well since March I've been undertaking kick boxing lessons and have gained every belt upto and including yellow it's very physical and hard for me because it's a contact sport
I started and then finished some counselling with MIND
I rode my motorbike as much as I could although in the earlier months I was still having panic attacks
    I joined NMP!
I found out about citalopram - and lo! started to get much better
I started cbt counselling through Fearfighter - exposure therapy to finally stop the panic attacks whilst riding the bike. They have now mostly diminished
I coped with a prolonged bout of IBS - god, that was painful!!
I continued and then completed my degree - and passed. Yay!
August - I attended my sister's wedding and coped with being anx over a run-in with my estranged father
September - I went on holiday with another NMP member
I sold my 550cc and bought a 900cc motorbike - and taught myself to ride it
October - I went away on a long-haul holiday with my husband
I've taken one or two exams at work - and passed
I coped with the big build-up to Christmas, as skint as usual!

There were probably other things as well but I forget them.

To top it all, my mum got worse and then died of the big C. I managed to make it home thankfully in time but I do regret ever going away and not spending more time with her.

I aim to spend more time with my younger sister now.

A very bittersweet year in all. I wouldn't want to totally forget it though - would rather just go back and do it all again instead. xxxxxx
