Citalopram 30mg to 40mg awful side effects

Iv'e been on 30mg of citalopram for a long time now and was doing well on this dose....until i had a really stressful event come up in my life only recently...which has knocked me back into depression/anxiety...Doctor suggested i higher my dose to 40mg which i started to do last wednesday-with 3 days on 35mg and now 6 days on 40mg...The side effects have been awful...feeling sick, very tired, been falling asleep in the day for 2 hrs,a thick head like a hangover feeling but all day long...fuzziness not been able to think striaght and feeling more anxious than usual.....

What i want to know is have others of you experienced this when uv altered ur dose?? and how long did ur side effects last??would much appreciate anyones input ...

Hi freesolo thanks for ur reply....

I did have some side effects going from 20mg to 30mg mainly nausea, headaches and some tiredness ...this went away after about two weeks...Then i started to feel the benefits of the higher dose by week three....The side effects of jumpinng from 30mg to 40mg have been alot worse!especially the tiredness...can't stay awake in the day!Its really frustrating and i hope this side effect goes soonotherwise i may as well live my life in my bed!!

I've increased from 20 to 30 and getting side-effects including tiredness and dizziness. I'm hopeful it will pass.

I recently upped my dose from 20 to 40, after being on 20 stopped working. Pretty bad side effects, trouble swallowing, whole body tingly and very dizzy. Is this normal?

i think 20 to 40 is a big jump! and you will def get a ton of side effects..why not try 30 and see how it go's?
