Just taken my first dose

Hey guys,

So just finally plucked up the courage to take my first dose of propanalol 40mg. It's a big thing for me as I hate taking medication and i'm terrified now! Keep thinking I'm gonna have a reaction to it or it's gonna make me collapse or something!!

Any reassurance would be great

Well done on taking the tablets! now throw away the accompanying booklet. you're going to be fine. do not anticipate the side effects and make them come. go and keep yourself busy, think of it nothing more than a paracetomol xx

I was exactly the same as you when I was prescribed Propranolol. I came home and read what they were for and it frightened the life out of me. I even went back to the Doctors the next day for a second opinion from another Doctor just to make sure they had not made a mistake.

It's a wonderful medication. I have been given it for serious anxiety due to cannabis withdrawal and it works wonders for me.

Think positive and I am certain you will feel a lot better when the effects kick in.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've taken my 2 doses today but I'm worried they're not right for me! If anything I've felt worse today! I had a huge panic attack when getting out the car to cross the road to my flat! Had to run and sit back at the car and just couldn't do it. Have felt anxious most of this evening too and now am struggling to relax to go to sleep. Really don't know what to do

Can I ask why you are taking it?

I get anxiety pretty much whenever i go out although it never normally turns into a full blown panic attack, i just feel anxious all the time. I get symptoms like neck tension, a suffocating feeling and dizziness.
The doc said these meds would ease the physical symptoms and make it easier for me to cope.
