constant cough wheezing clear plegm lung cancer

hi all (again!)

i'm having another panic here about my cough.

I’ve had a cough for a few weeks now, with clear phlegm which comes and goes (the cough and phlegm)

Sometimes it’s really bad (can be worse when ibs is bad). I can go a few days without anything.

It’s a contstant need to cough, like phlegm is stuck in the back of my throat and I need to get it up.

I can also be wheezy at night when trying to get to sleep and have to keep clearing my throat sometimes too when i breathe out - rattle a bit, which then make me annoyed and a i cough more, more phlegm comes up and off i go again.

i had my chest checked in december which was clear and i'd got it then but it wasn't particularly bad then.

i do smoke (about 3-10 per day) but am terrified i've got either lung cancer or something else which is going to kill me.

can anybody please put my mind at rest ?

I,ve still got mine ..lol..

Throat feels blocked with it some days , its a really sticky clear mucous which would make excellant glue!
Sometimes i just clear my throat lightly and its in my mouth ..yuk ! I,ve had mine since before xmas but seems better this last few weeks but still there .

If the phelm / mucous is clear you will be fine but try and give up the ciggies

I gave up a 10 a day smokeing habit on 3/10/2011 (i,m 45 ) and was coughing up a dark mucous from my lungs for months (was deffo from lungs not throat) which slowly went paler in colour and has now gone .

My chronic sore throat i had for months made me pack in as i was convinced it was something else .

I,ve read on here that excess throat mucous is also anxiety related
