Anyone on Amitriptyline, is it normal to make you feel tired?

Doc prescribed it for my tension headache and anxiety, and it is helping with those..problem is it's not helping my lightheaded feeling and it's making me sooo tired. Is that normal?

I'm on 25mg, and take it before bed.

Yep it completely zonks you out, but that wore off for me after about 2 weeks.

Hi there

Drowsiness is one of the classic side effects of amitriptyline, as it's one of the older-style antidepressants. as mohc said, it does wear off after a little while. Also, you may well find that getting more sleep helps your other symptoms.

Thanks Kym. Your right, going to bed an hour earlier or so every night is probably what my body needs. My sleep has been terrible lately, so maybe these meds will help give me more sleep that my body needs to heal itself. Can't believe I'm locked into this cycle at the moment, 2 months ago everything was ticking along as normal!
