Did they say why you didn't have one?
They can still see the bowel clearly so it won't effect the results.
What were they looking for?

I went for a private consultation due to bowel worries i had and i wasn't sure what to expect on the day, he did a rectal examination and then a camera but i was worried that as i didn't have an enema that they might have missed something as they wouldn't be able to see properly , can i be reassured that not having the enema would not effect the results and has this happened to anyone else ? i am now scared and am on the edge of asking for another because the results would have been effected.
Ahh you probably had a rigid sigmoidoscopy yes?
At my first examination I had one of these and no enema.
If you have the full flexible sigmoidoscopy you will need an enema

the rigid one is a good test though i take it and i can have reassurance in that ? I have health anxiety and was convinced that i had bowel cancer you see, so had that test and full bloods and they were fine, so i am now thinking my bowel troubles are due to ibs that is why i have posted on here . Thanks for your support xx
I had the same procedure and no Enema .It is a good one and will show if there is something wrong .I was told the same day it was IBS .Then sent to dietician .That was a waste of time as I knew more than he did ..Im sure you dont have anything serious .Read up yourself about diet and IBS .there is some info on the IBS page .and there is a lot you can do to help yourself .Main thing is relax .Its made worse and can be triggered by Anxiety .Hope that helps ..t/c Sue x
thanks everyone xxx
Hi again
Well when I had the first sigmoidoscopy they were concerned and sent me for further tests - I was diagnosed with Crohn's.
So yes the test you had was adequate I think and would have shown something if there was anything to worry about.
