    Breast Cancer - please help

I hope someone can reassure me. I am 35 and suffer with bad HA - usually gynae related. I have had minor twinges in my left breast every now and again for quite sometime. I guess HA has flared up over last few days (I am on my period) and I checked my breasts again last night and found a small lump on my rib cage part of breast. totally freaked out and went to see out of hours GP today .. he was lovely and said he doesn't think it is anything in fact is 99.9% sure but asked that I go to GP anyway for them to review and they may send me for scan for absolute certainty.

Well as anyone with HA knows I am focussed on the 000.1% and am convinced, plus the idea of the round of tests I will need, waiting etc is just making me feel like I will explode with fear.

He kept saying, don't worry and waste your weekend, it will be fine but best to check ... but there must be a chance otherwise why check? has anyone had similar situation?

    Thank you for reading

I just recently went for my yearly exam at my OBGYN's office. I told her about pain that I was having & when she checked my breast SHE found a lump. Now, with my HA you know that I had been checking myself for lumps and bumps, but I somehow missed this one...she sent me to see a surgeon specialist.
So, two weeks ago I had an ultrasound for this lump and it was GONE! My lymph nodes were all normal...
I was told that it is normal to have some of these lumps in and around our breast (especially during the times our hormones are raging)...I know that it's useless to tell you not to worry about it (because, we ALL worry when we have HA taking over or logical thoughts)...but from someone who has just been through something very similar, I learned that 80% of lumps are totally fine...that's great odds...focus on that, instead

Hi. I'm around the same age as you and at certain times of the month my breasts feel very tender and painful. I'm not sure exactly when it is because I don't worry about it, but I think it's somewhere between ovulation and menstruation when it happens. I also get tender lumps which come and go which I have been told is normal and is caused by hormones during your monthly cycle. So, it's best to get your breasts checked out, but it's more than likely that it's just to reassure you that there is nothing wrong.

    Hi

I found a lump in my breast which completely freaked me out 4 years ago, i too have HA and i went straight to gp, who thoucght it was cyclical as an HA sufferer i didnt believe him and poked and proded lump until i inflammed the breast, turns out that my lump was cyclical and although i had it a few weeks and was at gp nearly every few days for reassurance, it did disappear on its own, and my gp said that they know with feel of lump whether its to be worried about so if the out of hours said he was 99% sure i would believe him, as he would know... the reason he wants u to go to your own gp is because they will have better knowledge of your HA and can support u take care and try not to worry easier said than done with HA x

I'm 29 and have had many lumps in my boobs over the past 6 years, all of them thank goodness have been fine. I would trust the Dr, they really do not what they are feeling.

Update .. thanks again for all your lovely comments. Went to see my GP today, she checked all over and said she could find absolutely nothing to be worried about and reiterated that we are often lumpy etc. Standard practice apparently to go back in 2 weeks for follow up but she confirmed she was not at all concerned.

Feel relieved - of course due to HA still nervous about next appt, but am going to try very hard not to think about it as nothing to worry about!

    Thanks again
