IBS causing alot of wind?

I am having a visit from Aunt Flo (period) at the moment and I am suffering with my IBS. Some months I do, others I don't so much but this month it has been pretty bad.

My bleeding was heavy yesterday, nothing out of the norm for me on day 2 and I had the spasms up my bottom and lower abdomen. I sometimes get this if my bleeding is slightly heavier and more painful.

Today my bleeding is light but I am still riddled with excess wind. I have seen my GP lots of times before about this and he says it is IBS flared up by hormones, and I do suffer from IBS anyway.

I have a constant popping feeling up inside my rectum and I have to trump to ease the pain (sorry tmi). I get constant bubbling and popping in my lower abdomen (all beneath belly button area) and sometimes it travels higher up, under my left rib.

I don't feel bad in my actual stomach, occasionally I may feel a tad sick but that comes and goes. I think that is due to me not really eating.

I also started taking my iron tablets from the GP again on Saturday when my period started. I took a weeks break because it was causing me to feel a bit bunged up. Then yesterday morning I went to the loo and I had a green/black poo (sorry tmi) it was formed and I always get them that colour after taking iron, yuk! My GP told me that is totally normal. Then this morning I went twice for a number 2 and they were HUGE, sorry but OMG they were. My husband thinks I have constipation aswell and that is causing all the wind and pain up inside my bottom.

It can be painful with all the wind popping especially high up in my bottom area. I am not in agony with it but I feel really heavy in my abdomen and constant popping, it is horrible and very uncomfortable. It makes me feel sick now and again so I can't eat much at all, which I know causes more wind, so I am in a vicious circle.

Can I ask does anyone else suffer like this? and reassure me it is just IBS or constipation? I know deep down it is as I have no serious symptoms like bleeding, fever etc...

I get quite a bit of rectal pain - I spoke with a specialist about it and they said it was something called Proctalgia fugax.

This is just spasms which can be felt in the rectum and around that area, can be made worse by periods but not always and passing wind can stop them sometimes.

IBS symptoms do get worse when you have your period, especially constipation. If you're taking iron as well then it's no wonder you've in pain. I get what I call "internal wind" which I can't control. It's really loud too like the real thing. Very embarrasing. When I need to take iron I take iron water which is supposed to be non-constipating.

I am just riddled with wind, high and low, i feel pretty rough with it, and it isn't getting any better. I just hope by tomorrow I feel a bit better:-(

I can hear it churning around inside and now and again i have to pass it, but it feels almost like it is just stuck inside me rumbling around:-(
