IBS again!!!

Hi

I haven't had any IBS flare ups for at least a year! My recent worries have been more centred around women's problems and then a brain tumor fear. To be honest, I have been feeling really good for about 2 months. Then last week, I had a slight infection - temperature, headache, sore throat and a stomach upset. Ever since, I have had nasty symptoms again. Do you think this sounds like IBS?

• Abdominal pain low down mostly on the left side
• Abdominal pain across my belly button
• Pain under ribs
• Heartburn
• Wind
• Loose stools but also my tummy feels like I am constipated; a real sluggish feeling
• Bloatedness
• Feeling I haven't finished when I go to the loo.

I am trying really hard not to worry but I feel miserable. I have just got home from Sports Day at school and I look really red and feel hot on my face. I panicked and thought I had a temperature again but I think I may have just caught the sun a bit at lunchtime!! I know I am stressed again because I keep getting ectopic beats and headaches again!

I did go to the doctor. She said to give it time. I hat this. Please give me your oppinions and advice!!

Hello Jo,

They do sound like IBS symptoms, but bearing in mind that you have not long been unwell with a stomach upset (a viral illness) it could be hung on from that, maybe that is why your doctor said give it time.

I would go back if the symptoms continue, as it all goes together with IBS and the fact you are stressed.

I have had IBS for 10 years or so. Mine started with work stress and a nagging pain on my left side. I went to my GP and upon examination she said she could feel my colon spasming as she pressed on my left side, which indicated IBS.

Do go back if things don't improve.xxx
