Yellow patches of skin?

Had chest pain for a week and a half now - doctor felt around and pushed on my back and said I have pulled something. I just looked and now see I have yellow patches of skin, they look like a bruise when it's nearly healed, but they are in 3 or 4 places on my legs and I have not hurt those areas - freaking out now.

I googled and it just said liver stuff, anyone other causes?

How long have you had the yellow patches? I got them on my arm quite some time back, and I was very sure I have not hurt those areas too. The yellow patches returned to normal skin color after about 2 weeks or so. I still don't know the cause, but I don't have those symptoms since.
