How long can this last for?

I have had this constant ache and pressure in my pelvic area for over a week now with the constant feeling of needing to wee, also I feel uncomfortable down below. I don't have any infections, so does anyone know roughly how long this sort of thing can last?

I don't know, I'm a little worried about how long its been going on for now.

I have interstitial cystitis that goes with my endometriosis, that is I don't officially have an "infection" but I have all the symptoms of it that comes from inflammation/irritation of the bladder lining*.

Thrush can also give you some of the symptoms, does it itch at all? I don't know if that would give you pressure except for when you pee a lot, it gets irritated after a while and sometimes leaks like it loses a bit of control. But you would probably have other symptoms, discharge and such.

I can't think of anything else, but then I'm not a doctor. That's not something you can put up with forever when you don't even know what it is, maybe see a different doctor at your practice?

When they first gave you antibiotics, you didn't just take a couple, feel better and then not take the rest (before it came back) right?

*But I wouldn't be looking at that right now, I mean if it comes and goes numerous times and "flares up" it would be a bit more telling.

I did have some antibiotics and I did finish them, and I was tested for a UTI again afterwards but no infection was found. My doc did another one today to send off to the lab which I will get the results Monday. I have no itching or discharge and it doesn't sting when I pee its just uncomfortable down there all the time. I am hoping when I get the results on Monday it does show an infection so it can at least be treated properly xx

    Hi there

I had a similar problem that started last August after a bout of cystitis.

After various tests I self-diagnosed a pelvic floor disorder whereby my muscles down there are too tight. I also suspect I have a mild case of interstitial cystitis as my symptoms increase if I eat certain types of food (tomatoes, soy sauce, msg).

A good way of testing such a diagnosis is trying a few relaxation exercises and see if your symptoms improve. I had a few sessions with a Physio who specialised in Pelvic floor disorders.

Try standing against a wall, feet flat to the floor and palms flat against the wall. Slide down the wall keeping your back straight, knees bent, letting everything 'down below' relax, after 20 or so seconds, stand up slowly.

Repeat a few times being careful not to tense, the idea is to relax and 'open up'.

Try this tonight and tomorrow and see if your symptoms improve, it's worth a try.

Do let me know how you get on.

    Donna xx
