Advice needed please...

Hi there,

I have a friend who has a paranoid personality disorder/schizophrenia. She goes from one dr to another to get diagnosed and has had lots of treatment and given lots of drugs which I'm unsure she needs.

I don't know what to do because I want to protect her but I want her to think I don't trust or believe her.

Anyone got any advice?

If she has paranoid schizophrenia, I think meds are the norm for this, and may help her a lot. It is a tough diagnosis and cannot be treated with CBT. If you are concerned and feel that she could use support, then why not see if you could accompany her to an appointment if she wouldn't mind. She also needs to go to a doctor that specialises in this disorder who she can stick with so that the right combination of medications can be found for her, and her progression can be monitored.
