An update of my progress on Mirt

It's been 6 weeks on Sunday until I last had a drink and I'm feeling great. I am walking a minimum of 2 miles every day and my weight is down to the lowest it's been in years. I haven't been without a drink that long either since I was in my teen years!

Mirt has been a lifesaver for me and I can't believe how well I am still sleeping. Avoiding the booze has been a massive step forwards in my road to recovery.

I can't remember the last time I had a panic attack either. I still get my "down days" but that's to be expected. I know this journey is a long one.

I start Uni as a mature student in September and actually feel like I'll handle it all now. I'm actually looking forward to it when a few months back I was dreading it!

Thanks for the input and support from you guys - it really has made a difference to me.

Mono - It's so good to hear of your progress. It's no mean feat giving up the booze, I know because I've been there. Anxiety and depression are the main precursors to a booze problem. It's also encouraging to know that mirtazapine has helped in such a positive way. You are obviously not just letting the meds do the work, you are actively participating in your own recovery which is vital.

    Well done you!!

Thanks Belle! It means a lot

It's been bloody hard but I don't miss the booze one bit. I'm not going back to feeling like crap every morning just for a few beers in the evening, it's not worth it.

My wife has even quit the stuff too - she's feeling better for it and we're now planning for a child.
