Yellow fluid from nose after cold.

I never used to get this after a cold, but every time I have a cold now and it goes, I get this watery, bright yellow fluid from my nose and it comes with a burning sensation, too. It has always disappeared after a few days but I am just wondering what it is? And why it has never happened until only a few years ago? Thank you.
