    Re: Cyst on ovary

Hiya, I was told cysts become much more common as we get older - not just in ovaries, but breasts etc as well. Because ovarian cysts produce progesterone they interupt your normal periods (which is why your periods are off). They commonly form from the sac which released the egg at ovulation. In order to get your periods back on track, they have to remove the cyst (its the only way) and hence the most likely reason why you've been referred.

Cysts are common, female issues deserve a gynecologist, glad you've been referred.

I mean, yes - I know it’s a terrible thing to do. We all tell people not to google, and yet there I am at 3am....

Good perspective on seeing the gynaecologist, thank you.

Hope the lunch went well and you got some distraction xx

    Thanks Pulisa

Thank you. I was sort of hoping it would just go away, but I’m glad that someone will be taking care of me at least.

It could very well just go away but you will now have the added reassurance of an expert opinion as opposed to trusting your own judgement (and heaven forbid....Dr Google's!!)

Strange, I didn't have mine taken away and that was 15 years ago!

    Yes you’re right.

I think it depends on symptoms maybe?

In a bit of a spin today. Clearly I don’t have as much of a handle on my anxiety as I thought. Will dig out my box of anxiety tricks.

Hi Scass - just read your thread and didn’t want to walk past. Sorry you are in a spin today. 3am Googling is the absolute WORST. You know cysts are SO COMMON, and nearly always benign, but that doesn’t help when you suffer from anxiety. You poor thing. What anxiety tricks will you be using today? Keep posting on here if it helps. We really understand. Hugs

You are perfectly entitled to be "in a spin", Scass. It doesn't mean to say that you haven't got a very good understanding of -and handle on- your anxiety.

Nobody likes things like this and uncertainty is just the pits. I hope the blood test will give you some reassurance before you see the gynaecologist.

We do all understand and feel for you, as jojo says. I hope you get seen quickly so that you can put this behind you and enjoy Christmas without it hanging over you xx

    Re: Cyst on ovary

So I calmed down for a couple of days, I have an appointment tomorrow morning to see my GP as she suggested I might want to talk about it. Then suddenly I got a call for a gynaecologist appointment tomorrow afternoon - so now I think I must have been fast tracked & therefore I’m terrified. Getting over my immediate panic attack but at work & very close to tears. I know I won’t know anything until people tell me, and fortunately I don’t have to wait long to talk to those people, but god I’m scared.

Calm down. It just means that’s when they can fit you in. All totally normal. Have you had any blood tests yet?

Hang in there, Scass. I can only imagine how you must be feeling right now but I'm sure it'll be okay.

The one thing I hate about the NHS is the lack of information - it's Kryptonite to us HA people!
