Curious, what is medical coder?
It's a profession where you work for a hospital or physician's office and read a chart from a recent visit by a patient. You pick out the diagnosis codes and submit them to insurance companies. But it's not that simple. You have to figure out why they came in and any type of diagnosis or procedural codes that need to be applied for that specific visit.
One of my best friends is a medical coder for an oncology department, and also a hypochondriac, and she actually does okay with it, in spite of losing both her father and little sister to cancer.
