Sertraline for 5 years, 100mg, 50mg, should I go back up?

I’ve been on sertraline for 5 years after a bad bout of PND, also diagnosed with GAD. I was on 100mg for around 4 years and was doing well. I began tapering at the beginning of this year, very slowly, had no side effects. Have been in 50mg per day for around 6 months. In the last few weeks I’ve been feeling those old feelings come back and am having a bad IBS flare up, which I’ve not had for years. Doctor told me to increase back up to 100mg. I’ve been putting it off, scared of side effects and feel like a failure. Does anyone have experiences of going back up in dose after being on it for so long? Will I get same side effects as when I first went up in dose?

The sertraline will already be in your system but going up a dose will give you some of the side effects which you experienced before BUT as it is in your system they really shouldn't be so bad and should also be short lived.

If I ever get to the stage where it’s working for me there is no way I’m cutting down EVER !!
