Magnesium citrate

Hi all, my doctor gave me magnesium citrate to relieve my constipation. I took half the bottle 48 hours ago and am still having watery diarrhea. Sorry for the TMI. Does anyone know if that's normal? It's kind of alarming. I tend to have a healthy appetite even when I'm sick but for days now I've barely been able to eat and my stomach is still so upset.

crikey! Did you follow the dosage instructions? Mag cit can be very potent its what they give people before a colonoscopy to really clear them out.

At higher doses magnesium citrate gives you the runs.

Half a bottle? How many are in that bottle? Just taking a slightly higher than normal dosage can give people the runs with citrate.

Yes a daily supplement dose makes me dash so I halve it!!!

Hi! Yes the doctor told me to start with half and see how I feel. I'm slowly starting to feel better but I'm officially on day 3 of the runs and low appetite. Should have known better, my stomach is extremely sensitive and I'm sensitive to medications in general but I was just soooooo uncomfortable and milk of magnesia wasn't doing it for me! IBS is so fun guys LOL
