Gastritis - Symptoms really getting me down. So scared

I have been suffering mostly every day with burning pains all over my stomach but mostly in between my rib cage. Since spring of last year. Admittedly they aren’t as severe but they have never fully gone away. I made numerous trips to the doctor when they first started and they said I had gastritis and maybe ibs. I have had the odd spell of no pain but they are back daily no amount of lanszaparole of Buscopan is ridding me of it completely. I haven’t lost any weight but I’m becoming increasingly scared as the days are going on. I’m scared to go back to the Dr as I really feel it’s something serious. Anybody else suffered like this with Gastritis?

Sorry you’re suffering, I know how worrying it can be. I really think that the best course is to go back to your doctor and say that the medication isn’t helping. Keep a diary so that you can let them know when it affects you & if it could be food related.

I had gastritis, and it affected me differently. But that doesn’t mean it’s not what you have to, as believe it’s a kind of catch all term.

Perhaps you need to try something new, but only your doctor can help with that.

Hi, thank you for your response. May I ask how long you had Gastritis for and what were your symptoms?

About a year. I had heartburn, reflux and tightness in my breastbone after eating. I felt really hungry even when I ate! I lost about 2 stone.

Omeprazole and ranitidine didn’t really work for me. Gaviscon helps/helped.

I had an ultrasound and an upper endoscopy to diagnose it. I also had 2 small ulcers in my stomach.
