Tracy - how long did you give them? It sometimes takes 2-3 weeks of side effects before you start to feel better.

    Hi Nicola
Only took them for about 10 days. I know i should of stuck with it as the doctor told me i wouldn't feel any benefit for about 3 weeks. But they really did make me feel bad, worse than before i went on them.

This is quite common I am afraid. You will feel worse before you feel better and I know it is horrid. Perhaps you could try again on them if you want to.

    Hi everyone,

My name's Sandy & i've just joined the site. Have recently started Cipralex for general anxiety and depression (2nd day). Feel totally yuck & more anxious than ever -really bad headaches, nausea, dizziness and the shakes! Plus on top of this i lay awake last night for 2 hours worrying about everything!

I was on Prozac a couple of years ago and had exactly the same side effects so I simply went 'cold turkey' after 2 months of taking them. I know that this time I've really got to do something about the way I feel and behave, but I can't even face work right now!

Also does anyaone still drink alcohol while on these drugs? It's just that it's my coping strategy right now and the only thing that calms me down!

Look forward to hearing your comments.

    Sandy

    Hi Sandy ,

Its very normal to feel worse for the first few days on an SSRI - it then gets better.

People do still drink but its best to cut down. Its not recommended to mix them.
