    Possible bladder infection

Hi, I have been having pains in my bladder and slightly in my back at times. I think it's probably an infection but not sure. It has died down on and off over the last week but today it came back. I took some antibiotics that I had in the house but not a full course and I think it wasn't enough. Can anyone recommend any home remedies I can take myself to help the symptoms? I tried to get a doctors appointment but it was going to be 3 weeks until I got one. I have been drinking water and taken cystitis sachets etc. It's so uncomfortable. I'm trying not to worry about it being anything else.
    Thanks.

Seriously three weeks for an appointment ? Surely they can fit you in before that, that ridiculous! If you have a uti then its a quick and easy thing to test for, with a sample and dip test. Ask to see the practice nurse, they can often do the urine test and get a prescription for you if you need one. Are you getting burning, changed urine colour and other uti symptoms? Temperature?

You say you took 'some antibiotics', but were they even antibiotics for a urine infection ? You know, its really not a good idea to just take a partial course of something you happened to have in the house - they may not be appropriate and even if they were appropriate its not a good idea to take a partial course. Flushing the bacteria with fluids can help, but if that hasn't worked after a couple of days then the chances are its not going to.

Thanks Carys, I know, ridiculous, they are a doctor short. She didn't offer me a nurse appointment.
I know, not a good idea but I thought i'd try to ave a trip to docs.

Hi, you poor love. I suffered with that for years and best relief was from my grandmothers old wives remedy .. spoonful of baking soda in lukewarm water 3 times a day. I never get it now

Thanks Nikita, do you mean just plain bicarb or baking powder? I bet it tasted awful. I'd try it though if it worked.

I rang as an emergency a few weeks back saying I thought I had a urine infection and they got me in the same day to see the nurse. You don't have to wait 3 weeks to see a doctor.

Just keep drinking water as well.
